A community art show offers visions of peace.

This spring, artists in Ontario, Calif., submitted over 250 paintings, photographs, quilts, pottery, and other pieces related to the theme “Celebrate Peace” to the second annual Connect Art Show hosted by GracePoint Church. In addition to encouraging artistic expressions, Connect invited neighbors to discuss issues of peace as they perused the art. “This year’s theme was chosen soon after the school shootings in Newtown, Conn.,” explains Kaylene Jeffers, a GracePoint member who helped organize the show. “As a church, we really wanted to promote intentional dialogues about peace and unity, as well as to serve as a supportive part of the neighborhood.”
