From the editor: The future of "Family News"

Due to personnel reductions approved by the 2012 General Conference of the Brethren in Christ Church, as well as financial constraints, the BIC Communications team is in the process of reviewing all of the projects and publications that it undertakes, including “Family News.” Currently, less than 150 households are subscribed to “Family News,” while significant staff time and resources are invested in preparing and distributing the newsletter. Additionally, despite attempts to promote the publication, interest has remained low; just 14 new households have subscribed to “Family News” in the last five years.

In light of these considerations, the lifetime of the “Family News” publication will conclude with the winter 2012 edition, which was published in December 2012. This was a difficult decision, yet our team, in consultation with the moderator, feels that this step will enable the Church to use its resources as wisely as possible.

On behalf of the BIC Communications team, I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to each of you who have been loyal contributors and readers of “Family News” in its current form and as it appeared in the Evangelical Visitor over many years. I imagine that the conclusion of this newsletter may be concerning, and even painful, and for that loss, I apologize. It has been a great privilege to serve you in this way, and I pray that this transition, though disappointing, may nonetheless draw us as a community of faith closer together in understanding, grace, and peace.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

With appreciation,

Kristine N. Frey
